Aug 2011 Shark Dentists back on the road after Tootstock triumph

The highlight of the Shark Dentists’ July gigs was their bill-topping appearance at the annual Tootstock festival in Tooting, south London.
And for their second set at Tooting they were joined on stage by drumming legend John Marshall (Jack Bruce Band, Soft Machine) whose playing set the band - and the festival - alight.

With John Marshall taking over the drums, the Sharks regular drummer was able to pick up the blues harp for an electrifying four-piece maximum blues/rock performance.

The Shark Dentists played some memorable gigs in May. They’d particularly like to thank the regulars at The Retreat, Reading, for being such an appreciative audience. And they’d also like to thank Jean at The Portcullis, Bristol, for her great outdoor stage - and a very long extension cable!

Classics such as Bell Bottom Blues (Clapton) and Little Wing (Hendrix) which have recently been added to the Sharks’ “live” set are getting a good reception - along with the band’s own bluesy take on Bad Things from TV’s True Blood series.

The Sharks will be back in Bristol on June 10 for a return appearance at the Cat and Wheel. And on July 23, they will top the bill at the annual SummerFest at The Castle, Tooting, where they will be appearing for the fourth year running.

Other recently added material includes Bell Bottom Blues (by Derek and the Dominos), Hey Joe (by Jimi Hendrix) and Rolling In The Hay (by the Sharks lead guitarist and vocalist Russ Payne).
